Integration (inburgering) in the Netherlands
Under the Integration Act 2021 (Wet inburgering 2021), the municipality makes a plan (PIP) together with you. You learn the language and how the Netherlands works. You usually have 3 years.

- The municipality invites you for an introductory meeting (a broad intake).
- Together you set your goals in a Plan for Integration and Participation (PIP).
- You follow a language course and the modules KNM (knowledge of Dutch society) and MAP (the labour market).
- You take the exam. If you pass within the deadline, you have met the integration requirement.

- Respond to letters from the municipality — appointments are mandatory.
- Ask whether the course is paid by DUO (the loan for people with asylum status is often forgiven).
