Applying for allowances (Toeslagen)
The Belastingdienst gives allowances to help with your costs: healthcare allowance, rent allowance, child budget and childcare allowance. You apply for them with DigiD.

Step by step
- Log in to Mijn toeslagen with your DigiD.
- Use the trial calculation (proefberekening) to see what you are entitled to.
- Apply for the allowance and enter your estimated yearly income.
- Report changes (income, rent, family) right away to avoid having to pay money back.
Quick checklist
- Estimate your income realistically — too high or too low causes problems.
- Do you have an allowance partner? Add them.
- Check your allowance again every year.
