Finding help and contact

You are not on your own. VluchtelingenWerk, social work and your municipality help with letters, appointments and problems. Asking for help is normal and free.

Please note: This information is general and meant to help you get started. It is not legal or medical advice. Rules and amounts change — always check the official source or ask for help at your municipality or VluchtelingenWerk.

Step by step

  1. Find the local VluchtelingenWerk office in your municipality.
  2. Make an appointment for help with post, forms or money matters.
  3. If you have debts or money worries: ask the municipality about debt assistance.
  4. Not feeling well? The family doctor or social work will listen.

Quick checklist

  • Bring letters you do not understand to your appointment.
  • Ask for an interpreter if that helps.
  • Write down the names and phone numbers of the people who help you.
